Maintenance Field Values Identical for all of an Asset's Maintenance Items

There is currently an advanced setting for Report Fields that allows the value to of a Report Field to be identical for the Asset and all its Reports. That option does not work for Maintenance Fields. It would be helpful for Maintenance Fields that are repetitive for users to just fill out a locational or identifying-type field once and then all Maintenance Items for that same Asset would have that field auto-populated.

For instance, we have a field called "Area Office" we use in our Maintenance Forms to help users sort the Follow Up Actions (FUA) by region. That is filled out for each FUA so that it can be used in the Maintenance Filter. It is the same for each FUA for the same structure, though, so if it could just be entered once, that would be a nice time saver.

We currently have over 40,000 on-system FUA that use this field, so most structures already have an Area Office associated via the Maintenance Module. For new FUA, that already existing info could be used to auto-populate new forms for a structure where there is an existing FUA.

In Forms Designer, all forms and report sections where either Report Fields or Maintenance Fields can be used should have the "Data Source" option in a form control's Properties pane:

    • Default - Use the value directly from whatever object you're viewing (asset / report)

    • Asset - Always display the value from this field in Asset Values

      • This will always be read-only.

If you change the Data Source for the control to be "Asset" on a maintenance template, it will then let you choose a Report Field (to show a value from the asset) instead of Maintenance Fields.

This should let you display any asset value on a maintenance item's input forms or PDFs.
